The Burden
The Burden is an installation of filmed performances on discarded TV's. Performed with both electrical waste and rope waste from the sea. All materials were collected from La Collette Recycling Centre as they were being dumped.
The Burden explores the physical and mental weight we carry thinking about our collective and individual waste. Filmed both on Jersey's shores, in a natural environment and at the Recycling Centre with the back-drop of a huge pile of electrical waste that had been discarded by people. The films invite you to contemplate your physical and inseparable connection to this waste and the burden and responsibility we each carry. The installation is accompanied by a live performance with electrical waste piled onto the body in a dark and comic performance exploring the burden of our waste.
